TYPES OF COMMUNICATION
COMMUNICATION
Communication is the process of sending and receiving messages through verbal or non verbal means including speech or oral communication, writings , graphical representation and signs, symbols and behaviour etc. It is the creation and exchange of meanings.
1. One way communication
It is characterised by the absence of feedback from the receiver. One way communication is when a message flows from sender to receiver only.
Eg: radio, television
2. Two way communication
It involves feedback from the receiver to sender. This allows the sender to know the message was accurately by the receiver.
Eg: telephone conversation
3. Verbal communication
It occurres when we engaged in speaking with others. It can be face to face, over the telephone, via skipe or zoom etc. Some verbal engagements are informal such as chatting with the friend.
4. Non verbal communication
It includes facial expressions, posture, eye contact, hand movements and touch.
5. Written communication
Whether it is an email, memo or report, a post, tweet etc. All forms of written communication have the same goal to disseminate information in a clear and concise manner. But poor writing skills lead to confusion.
6. Visual communication
We are in visual society. Television are running 24×7, facebook is visual with memes, videos etc.
Strategies
♡using data visualisation.
♡using shape and lines to outline.
♡symbols helps in memories.
CONCLUSION
Communication may breaks down a result of many communication barriers that may be attributed to senderor receiver. Effective communication requires familiarity with barriers. Choosing right channel for communication is important because choosing wrong medium undermines the message.
